Frequently Asked Question's

Q. Where are the boats located?                                                                                                                                   A. Depending on if we are traveling to a tournament. Our home address is 650 Water Street, Saugatuck, Michigan

Q. How many fish can we catch?
A. In Michigan waters the limit is a total of 5 fish per person.  You can catch 5 salmon, but no more than three of any other species.  In Indiana and all other states the limits are 5 of any species except lake trout which is no more than two per person.

Q. How old do you have to be?
A. All ages are welcome.

Q. How old do you have to be to have a fishing license?
A. Any one under the age of 17 doesn't need a license.

Q. What kind of fish will I catch?
A. King Salmon make up 70% of our catch. In the spring Coho Salmon will make up the majority of the catch but the occasional, steelhead, brown trout, and lake trout are caught throughout the year.

Q. How many people can we bring?
A. We are a USCG license captains and a DNR inspected vessel which allows us to take 6 passengers plus crew per trip.

Q. How many fishing lines do you use at one time?
A. The state of Michigan and the state of Indiana allow 3 lines per person which we fish with most of the time, up to 21 lines.

Q. Do you take charters in tournaments?
A. Yes, as a matter of fact we fish all tournaments with charter customers. If you are interested, contact us about the details for availability at (616)-292-4812.

Q. Will I need suntan lotion?
A. It is okay to use suntan lotion on the boat, but it is very important to keep it off the boat and fishing equipment because it is a bit of a repellent for the fish.

Q. What if it is bad weather?
A. If it's only raining we will still fish, fishing is very good in the rain. If lightning or rough seas occur, we normally will not fish and your deposit will be refunded.

Q. What if I get sea sick and we go in early, will I have to pay?
A. Unfortunately with the limited amount of days we can charter in the summer, we must charge you because we occur the same cost if we go in early or not.

Q. How often does someone become sea sick?
A. Not very often, The BEST CHANCE TOO is a larger charter boat than most, which seems to help against motion sickness. The lake is calm for a large portion of the time. If you have low tolerance for motion, we suggest taking a motion sickness drug, like Dramamine II or a generic less drowsy brand the night before your fishing charter.
